Happy New Year 2024!

The Holy Family Senior Center re-opened in January 2023 and lunch and activities have been offered since then. During the pandemic, the outreach to those in need of food was tremendous as we offered meals for ‘pick-up’ at Holy Family. Over 20,000 meals were served and distributed in 2023.  ECCC could not do this without your support and interest in the mission to bridge the gaps in services to elders living in Franklin County. Since January, it has been a joy to see a community that supports each other as we eat and play together. Activities happen daily along with lunch. We have over 70 home bound seniors who receive a meal delivered by a volunteer Monday through Friday.  We need volunteers to deliver meals to the homebound.  Even if you can’t volunteer a lunch hour a week, you can be a sub and cover a route when someone else is out.  We need you! As we plan for 2024, our vision is to continue to reduce food insecurity and have events and activities that bring elders and the community together making Apalachicola a vibrant and healthy place to age.

Four concerts are planned jointly with Ilse Newell at Holy Family:
January 20:  Tocamos Mas – Tango/Salsa
February 10: Chris Goober & Band
February 24: Bernard Simmons & Band
March 9: Echo Valley
More information and tickets are available at www.inconcertapalachicola.org.

Yoga is offered every Tuesday and Thursday 9 – 10:30 and is open to beginners and experienced.

ECCC is gearing up for the New Years Baskets. We are collecting items to be placed in laundry baskets and distributed to 120 elders in our county:  dish soap, laundry soap, bleach, toilet paper, paper towels, kitchen towel and dishcloths, toilet bowl cleaner and brushes, Kleenex, bar soap, all purpose cleaner.  If you can donate items for the baskets, please drop them off at Holy Family between 8am and 1pm, Monday through Friday before January 26.

Your donations are what sustains ECCC.  Please consider a New Year 2024 Gift and help ECCC grow and embrace the promise of a new year.  No matter the size, all contributions bring us closer to assuring that seniors living in Franklin County, especially those most isolated and vulnerable, live with dignity, respect and connection to others.

Happy New Year 2024 from ECCC!  Together we are really making a difference for ‘at risk’ seniors in Franklin County.  Thank you for your support and interest!
