Sizzler 2021! August 7 on SGI!

Elder Care Community Council (ECCC) is  excited to announce the ECCC SGI Sizzler 5K Race & One Mile Run/Walk on August 7, 2021 on St. George Island.  It is the 24th year for the race tradition on St. George Island and ECCC is the organizer and beneficiary. The race was cancelled last year due to COVID-19 so we hope you will join us this year.  We are asking you to join with  ECCC as a 2021 sponsor and by registering for the run or walk. We could not do what we do without your help and belief in our mission to be the bridge connecting people over age 55 living in Franklin County to a community of support through advocacy, enhancement and expansion of services.  Please email us at ecccfranklin@gmail.com or call us at 850-370-0116 and we will send you the sponsor form.  Together we can make a difference in the lives of elders right in our community.  Registration is available soon on EventBrite under ECCC SGI SIZZLER 5K RACE & ONE MILE FUN RUN/WALK.  You can also donate on our Pay Pal account:  PayPal.me/ecccfranklin.  Sponsors that commit to $100.00 or more before July 19, will get your logo on our sponsor banner the day of the race and be included in our publicity. ECCC is a 501(c)(3) organization so your donation is tax deductible. We rely on generous sponsors like you to continue our work.  This year we are encouraging runners and walkers and we hope you can join us. We will have the same USTAF certified course as 2018 & 2019 with two water stops and icy cold washcloths at the end of the race. We encourage racers and walkers of all ages to support ECCC! We will have traditional 3-deep age group awards as well as the Masters, Grand Masters, and Senior Grandmaster categories. We are also presenting awards to celebrate our elders to the oldest male and female finishers. After the race, enjoy a post race party at Mango Mike’s Sports Bar & Grill with your purchased meal ticket. Bring your family and friends to enjoy the party!

It has been a great year of growth for ECCC and we need your help to continue our work. Our activities for the past year have included:  providing over 11,000 lunches during 2020 and almost 9,000 so far in 2021.  ECCC distributed over 100 New Years Baskets filled with household items and cleaning supplies and hundreds of bags of groceries.  Outreach and advocacy to link people to existing services funded through Area Agency on Aging in North Florida and making friendly check in calls to homebound elders has been part of our work through out the pandemic.

In other news, the Franklin County Food Pantry is in need of volunteers to help pack food bags  twice a month to bag food for the food pantry recipients.  Call Lori Switzer at 850-653-3930 for more information. ECCC thanks you for your support.
