Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County, ECCC, has distributed more than 13,000 lunches since the beginning of January 2021. In 2020, ECCC distributed 11,030 meals and in 2019 we distributed 2,960 meals out of the Holy Family Senior Center. The need for this food is tremendous and we could not do what we are doing without the support of people like you that contribute to our efforts. The source of funding for the food purchased to make the meals is 100% from donations and fundraising. The Holy Family building is owned by the City of Apalachicola and ECCC works in the kitchen Monday through Friday preparing the meals for drive through pick-up or delivery to the homebound elders. The ECCC delivery volunteers clocked over 600 hours so far in 2021 as they drive the route to make sure no home bound elder in our community is without access to nutritious prepared food 5 days a week. The well check calls continue to reach out to the homebound at least once or twice per month. If you or someone you know is in need, please call us at 850-370-0116.
ECCC will be hosting a fundraising concert on November 10 at Holy Family Center, 203 Dr. Frederick Humphries Drive, Apalachicola. The doors will open at 5:30 and the music starts at 6pm with two headliners: Boo Radley and The Wamps. The Wamps are Lynn & Lou Wamp. Lou is a 30+ year veteran of the bluegrass stage, having toured with such nationally known acts as James Monroe & the Midnight Ramblers and Blue Moon Rising. Lynn rocks the bass and Lou plays dobro and they both sing, play guitar and mandolin. Boo Radley’s original songs highlight the songwriting skills, sophisticated harmonies and guitar work, and true passions of the acoustic duo, comprised of Michael Shawn Turner and J. Patricia Matson-Turner. Meaningful lyrics, high-quality, well-rehearsed vocal harmonies, and Turner’s intricate playing on his warm, full-bodied acoustic guitar set Boo Radley apart. Their songs, speaking to modern-day and sometimes personal issues, resonate with audiences young and old. Ranging from soft ballads to more hard-driving acoustic songs, their spirit has proven to thrive through Boo’s live performances. Both of these groups will entertain us with their beautiful music so don’t miss the show! Your donations or sponsorship for this event is appreciated. You can contribute by check or cash at the door or on PayPal at PayPal.me/ecccfranklin, or send us a check at PO 335, Eastpoint, FL 32328. 100% of the money raised from the concert will go to purchase food for the daily lunches. Each lunch is valued at $5-$8 so every small and large contribution will help us continue to make sure no one is hungry over the age of 55 living in our community.ECCC is a 501(c)(3) community organization dedicated to bridging the gaps in services to this over age 55 living in Franklin County, FL.
