Defibrillator installed at Holy Family Senior Center

Ramon Valenzuela, Weems Memorial Hospital in Apalachicola, and Richard Lewis , Franklin County EMS Director install an AED, Automated External Defibrillator, at the Holy Family Senior Center this past week.  This device is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.   It can analyze the heart’s rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm. A grant was awarded to the hospital and EMS to provide 8 AED’s to Franklin County and the training necessary for using the AED’s and CPR.  Stay tuned for the dates for the community   certification trainings.  Call us at 850-370-1006 if you are interested in attending training.
