Did you know that moving your body more, getting your fruits and vegetables, and volunteering are all proven ways to live a happier, longer life according to many research studies?  If you have an extra hour per week, or month,  to volunteer for Elder Care Community Council of Franklin County, we need you.  Call us at 850-370-0116 to see how you can safely get involved during the time when all activities and events at Holy Family Senior Center are on hold.  The kitchen at Holy Family is busy Monday through Friday.  We sure look forward to the time we can gather again safely and want to make sure the vulnerable elders all are safe and taken care of as we look forward to the fall and winter  holiday season.  Some of our most popular events have been held during the holidays and we want to be able to let all seniors know they are not forgotten.
We invite you to make sure that all elders in our community have warm blankets and socks this winter by donating these items at 230 Dr. Frederick Humphries Drive, Apalachicola, the historic Holy Family Senior Center.  The best drop off time is between 11 and noon, Monday through Friday,  by pulling up to the building and someone will be there to accept your donation.  Call us at 850-370-0116 to make arrangements for drop off at a different time.
Another way that you can support our mission to bridge the gaps in services to those over age 55 in our county is by making a donation of money or food.  Our list of requests includes:  peanut butter, canned chicken, tuna or salmon, dried beans, nuts, canned chili, canned pumpkin, cranberry sauce, boxed stuffing, canned soup or stew, cooking oil and condiments, oatmeal, foil, zip locks, tissues and TP.  These items are things that most of us take for granted, so let’s be generous especially during  this holiday season.  Again, drop off time at the Center is between 11 and noon, Monday through Friday or as scheduled when you call us.
We are serving up to 70 “to-go’ lunches per day including the home bound seniors.  If you or someone you know are in need during this time, call us at 850-370-0116.  ECCC is here for you and everyone over age 55 in Franklin County.  Cash donations can be made by dropping your check off at Holy Family Senior  Center between 11 and 1, Monday through Friday, by mailing it to ECCC, PO 335, Eastpoint, FL 32328 or by going to our website, www.ecccfranklin.org and clicking on ‘donate’.  Our email is ecccfranklin@gmail.com and we are a 501(c)(3) community organization so your donation is tax deductible
