Lunch is cooked and served in togo containers out of Holy Family Senior Center, Monday through Friday, at 11:30 am and is available for those over 55 years of age.  Please stay in your car to pick up the lunch.  Volunteers and Liz Early, Food Service Director, have been utilizing all safety measures to keep distance and wear masks to keep everyone protected and safe.  Anyone over age 55 in need of lunch is welcome to drive in to pick up lunch.  ECCC has referred new people to Meals on Wheels which is operated out of the Armory in Apalachicola through Liberty County Senior Services.  If you or someone you know needs assistance, please call us at the number below.  We are working closely with North Florida Area Agency on Aging to assure everyone is well taken care of.  The Elder Help Line, 866-467-4624, for linkage to services and to answer questions about resources for everyone over age 55.  ECCC is 850-370-0116 or is a new global day of giving and unity that will take place on May 5, 2020 –  in addition to the regularly scheduled Dec 1, 2020 #GivingTuesday – as an emergency response to the unprecedented need caused by COVID-19. Let’s come together to drive a spike of generosity, citizen engagement, business and philanthropy activation, and support for ECCC. Together we can heal. Be a part of the solution: show your support and rally to do some good!  Donations are welcome in the form of cash or food.  Please go to and click on our donate button or send checks to ECCC, PO Box 335, Eastpoint, Florida 32328.  If you purchase through Amazon, please choose Elder Care Community Council on Amazon Smile to make your purchases and Amazon will make a contribution to ECCC.  Everyone and every amount counts!
There is a Food Drive tomorrow, April 24, 11am, at Tabernacle of Faith, 148 8th Street in Apalachicola.  Please have space cleared in your car.  The food is donated and is in coordination with Second Harvest.  For more information about the food drive or ECCC, contact Val Webb, President of ECCC,  at 850-370-0116 or email
The Butterfly and Vegetable Gardens are thriving due to wonderful volunteers including:  Nancy Jones, Deyton Gray, Sharon Sleeper, Sabrina Fornes, Karen Kessel, Mollie Hill, Faith Hendrix and her grandson.  They have a daily watering schedule and have planted annuals, herbs and seeds including squash, sunflowers, zinnias, milkweed petunia and tomatoes. Stroll by the gardens to see the garden progress!  All activities at Holy Family Senior Center are suspended until it is safe to gather again.  If you have suggestions for future activities or would like to get involved, let us know.  We like to offer a wide variety of activities including art/crafts, fitness, yoga, bingo, health and wellness, nutrition, etc.  We hope to offer beginning computer classes. We welcome your ideas and expertise.  Please make sure you have completed the Census as we need everyone to count.
