Our monthly meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18 at 1pm at Holy Family Senior Center in Apalachicola. We hope you can join us as we welcome Janice Harvey from The State of Florida, Department of Elder Affairs, Office of Volunteer & Community Services. Janice will be speaking to us about the role of her Tallahassee office and how Department of Elder Affairs is promoting September as Intergenerational Month. Please RSVP to let us know you can attend on 9/18 at 1pm.
Speaking of Intergenerational Month, ECCC is hosting a Grandparents Day Celebration on September 9th, this coming Sunday, from 3-5pm at Holy Family Senior Center.
You can help in the following ways:
**Show up for the event at 3pm with or without Grandkids and share the flyer below with anyone you know that might be interested.
**VOLUNTEER at the event (PLEASE RSVP to let us know how you can help):
-Bring or donate: Brownies, Grapes, Bananas, Apples, Oranges, Strawberries or other berries (finger foods only); Drop off items at Holy Family before 1pm on Friday, September 7 or let us know you can bring your contribution to the event on Sunday.
-help set up at 2:30pm on 9/9/18.
-help greet participants and sign them up for the raffle.
-do face painting or help making cards for Grandkids and Grandparents. We will have all the supplies and If you are crafty, this is where we need you.
-help serve lemonade from our beautiful punch bowl and the brownies and fruit during the event.
-use your cell phone to take photos at the “photo station”of Grandparents and Grandkids as they arrive.
We are delighted that Bring Me A Book will attend Grandparents Day and have books available for kids to take home as well as read books to kids at the event.
